Tobias Svanér received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jonatan Andersson came out and tried to block the shot, but Tobias Svanér slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 6th minute. Bengt-Åke Thidén recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 13th minute of the match Östen Anundsson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Knut Odin skillfully saved the ball. After 13 played minutes The Wild Bunch got a freekick which was hit by Calle Rydberg. Bengt-Åke Thidén struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Knut Odin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Linköpings AIK. Jonatan Andersson made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Fred Smedfeldt sent off a good shot on target. Mattias Hammarbäck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kaj Lööf got free with Jonatan Andersson in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Wild Bunch's Knut Odin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bengt-Åke Thidén in the 26th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobias Svanér in the 35th minute of play forced Linköpings AIK's goalkeeper Jonatan Andersson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the game, Östen Anundsson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Linköpings AIK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Wild Bunch the free kick. In the 41st minute, Östen Anundsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Knut Odin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rickard Hedlund in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rickard Hedlund was the one to do the kick off. Bengt-Åke Thidén fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Knut Odin having to interfere. After having played for 56 minutes, Mattias Hammarbäck managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Wild Bunch's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mattias Hammarbäck was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mattias Hammarbäck hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 60 minutes into the game, when Axel Boberg put in a rough tackle. After 59 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for The Wild Bunch! Petter Billberg placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The Wild Bunch's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Olof Brolin 64 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Knut Odin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rickard Hedlund, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Wild Bunch's Per-Olof Haström suffered a concussion in the 71st minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Bengt-Åke Thidén's late challenge caught a The Wild Bunch's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bengt-Åke Thidén helped the player get up and apologised. The Wild Bunch's Torsten Haström was substituted for Per-Olof Haström. The supporters of The Wild Bunch booed when Linköpings AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt-Åke Thidén didn't get a good kick on the ball. 82 minutes into the match, The Wild Bunch's goal looked a bit too open when Rickard Hedlund came free, but Knut Odin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Knut Odin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Östen Anundsson in the 83rd minute of play. Olof Brolin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Knut Odin having to interfere. 96 minutes into the game, one of The Wild Bunch:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
