Tero Haakana started the match with the kick off. In the 6th minute Martti Helin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristiaan Van de Velde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Edgard Armentier fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored de belletrekkers's protests and gave Edgard Armentier a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when de belletrekkers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgard Armentier didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in de belletrekkers's zone, Tero Haakana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kristiaan Van de Velde came out of the goal and Tero Haakana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Owen in the 12th minute of play forced de belletrekkers's goalkeeper Kristiaan Van de Velde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juha Jokiranta came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by de belletrekkers's Gino Focquier. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Gino Focquier scored 3-3 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Juha Jokiranta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. de belletrekkers's Kristiaan Van de Velde proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save de belletrekkers from getting a goal against them. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
