Antonio Swiderski breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Schmidt in the 14th minute of play forced Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Nico Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, Xurupita FC's goal looked a bit too open when Asım Erseven came free, but Nico Abraão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir Schmidt in the 21st minute of play forced Xurupita FC's goalkeeper Nico Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcus Meirelles really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Humberto Pitta's late challenge caught a SANTOS F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Humberto Pitta helped the player get up and apologised. After 38 played minutes Xurupita FC got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Pitta. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Asım Erseven to make the kick off.
