The referee ignored Szombathely Squirrels's protests and gave Mihály Csontos a yellow card for diving instead. After 15 minutes of play, Szombathely Squirrels's Balázs Pálinkás made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jairo Collador was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 18th minute, Dénes Boross hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Liga de Quito's Jairo Collador proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Liga de Quito from getting a goal against them. Szilárd Csikós recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gusztáv Jászberényi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Urbano Pacio in the 34th minute of the match. Nestor Ibaute recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Liga de Quito booed when Szombathely Squirrels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zsolt Vörös didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Urbano Pacio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Krisztián György kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Balázs Pálinkás made a kick off. Jairo Collador showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Szilárd Csikós, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. In the 55th minute, Nestor Ibaute reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Gusztáv Jászberényi. The goal made the score 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Balázs Pálinkás in the 67th minute of play forced Liga de Quito's goalkeeper Jairo Collador to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Szombathely Squirrels's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liga de Quito the free kick. The supporters of Liga de Quito booed when Szombathely Squirrels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferenc Jászberényi didn't get a good kick on the ball.
