The referee ignored Club Atletico Fenix's protests and gave Ivan Poncio a yellow card for diving instead. In the 22nd match minute, Club Atletico Fenix was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivan Poncio to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Damian Hitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atletico Fenix's supporters rose to their feet, but Damian Hitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivan Poncio to make the kick off. Fabio Herauso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Otto Klepp, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. 54 minutes into the match, Club Atletico Fenix's goal looked a bit too open when Christian Halstensen came free, but Fabio Herauso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
