The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillermo Ovando in the 3rd minute of play forced V.K.DRINK Hermanovce's goalkeeper Daniel Vengloš to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Matúš Kráľ fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored V.K.DRINK Hermanovce's protests and gave Matúš Kráľ a yellow card for diving instead. Matúš Kráľ hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Daniel Vengloš took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guillermo Ovando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute, Maximino Martino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Newells Old Boys's zone, Richard Bodnár stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberto Txurio came out of the goal and Richard Bodnár tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st minute Richard Bodnár shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alberto Txurio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Nestor Tabb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Daniel Vengloš showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mingo Torrente in the 25th minute of the match. Joaquin Jerrald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Daniel Vengloš tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Mingo Torrente made the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes of play, Newells Old Boys's Mingo Torrente made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Daniel Vengloš was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mingo Torrente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 58 minutes into the match, Mingo Torrente notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of V.K.DRINK Hermanovce's Daniel Vengloš. Daniel Vengloš was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Daniel Vengloš was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Mingo Torrente capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Mingo Torrente really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. Daniel Vengloš made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mingo Torrente in the 65th minute of play. Joaquin Jerrald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peter Zmoraj kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Daniel Vengloš was out of position in the 72 minute of play, and Guillermo Ovando capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Guillermo Ovando really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. Guillermo Ovando sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joaquin Jerrald who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 78thth minute tested the skills of Daniel Vengloš when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Mingo Torrente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mingo Torrente sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Vengloš came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Guillermo Ovando. But to his dismay, Guillermo Ovando quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Joaquin Jerrald hit a great ball. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Newells Old Boys eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
