Juventus FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Mingo Torrente came free, but Cleiton Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Mingo Torrente's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cleiton Queiroz was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Jailson Godoi was extremely unlucky when he, in the 12th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Cleiton Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Ovando in the 14th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the game, Luiz Guilherme Arósio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Miguel Sancho was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mingo Torrente in the 30th minute of play forced G.E. Juventus FSCMZ's goalkeeper Cleiton Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ismael Secco charged in rather forcefully in the 32nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ismael Secco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to G.E. Juventus FSCMZ getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Generoso Eyague kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Cleiton Queiroz made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Guillermo Ovando sent off a good shot on target. Nestor Tabb could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Cleiton Queiroz made a huge save. Newells Old Boys's Miguel Sancho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Guilherme Arósio in the 94th minute of play. Fernando Toscano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Miguel Sancho having to interfere. The Newells Old Boys supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Newells Old Boys would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
