In the 3rd minute, Aprígio Eanes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ubaldo Silvanito was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Amador Urti could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Osvaldo Vilaverde made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Aprígio Eanes managed to get in a good position for a shot. VB-Team's supporters rose to their feet, but Aprígio Eanes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ubaldo Silvanito breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Osvaldo Vilaverde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillermo Ovando in the 13th minute of the match. In the 14th match minute, VB-Team was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aprígio Campos to maneuver through the defense. Newells Old Boys's Generoso Eyague shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 15th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Osvaldo Vilaverde but with some difficulty. After 17 minutes of play, VB-Team's Humberto Castro made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ubaldo Silvanito was left in no man's land by his defense there! Ubaldo Silvanito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Aprígio Eanes went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 24th minute Humberto Castro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ubaldo Silvanito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 27th match minute, Newells Old Boys was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesar Cordairo to maneuver through the defense. When Humberto Castro came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the VB-Team fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Humberto Castro couldn't finish the play. Osvaldo Vilaverde made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amador Urti in the 30th minute. In the 41st minute Aprígio Eanes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ubaldo Silvanito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Llorienzo in the 43rd minute of play forced VB-Team's goalkeeper Osvaldo Vilaverde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 played minutes VB-Team got a freekick which was hit by Tiago Menezes. After 44 played minutes, Newells Old Boys's Esteban Rameriz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Osvaldo Vilaverde came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Newells Old Boys reached it. The Newells Old Boys players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. VB-Team were winning 0-4.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Humberto Castro to make the kick off. Osvaldo Vilaverde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Ovando, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. 53 minutes had been played when some careless play by VB-Team's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Esteban Rameriz was slow to take the kick. During this time Newells Old Boys's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Esteban Rameriz got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Osvaldo Vilaverde quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 56th minute, Jaime Espinosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 60th minute, Newells Old Boys's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Aprígio Eanes fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Osvaldo Vilaverde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Emanuel Llorienzo, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Aprígio Eanes succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-5 in the 66th playminute. After a rather tough play, VB-Team's Aprígio Campos got a free kick in the 74th minute. Humberto Castro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Ubaldo Silvanito tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Osvaldo Vilaverde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guillermo Ovando, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. The audience was convinced that Guillermo Ovando's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Osvaldo Vilaverde was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. In the 79th minute Amador Urti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Osvaldo Vilaverde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Newells Old Boys defense, Aprígio Eanes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ubaldo Silvanito. The Newells Old Boys fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ubaldo Silvanito should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guillermo Ovando in the 89th minute of play forced VB-Team's goalkeeper Osvaldo Vilaverde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 92 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by Nestor Tabb. VB-Team played a much better game than Newells Old Boys and deserved their victory. The Newells Old Boys players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
