Spectators: 7514 (Terracing: 5636, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Tony Proença started the match with the kick off. After 6 minutes of play, Juventudes Libertárias's Tony Proença made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Basílio Maranhense was left in no man's land by his defense there! Basílio Maranhense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andriy Shevchenko, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Proença scored 0-2 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Basílio Maranhense, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Basílio Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tony Proença, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 22nd minute, Roy Pålsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 25th minute Hortêncio Linhares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chepe Canido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, INTER FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Proença came free, but Basílio Maranhense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Hortêncio Linhares's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Chepe Canido was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tony Proença in the 33rd minute of play forced INTER FC's goalkeeper Basílio Maranhense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hortêncio Linhares to strike the kick off in the second half. Tony Proença received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Basílio Maranhense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marquinhos Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 57 minutes into the match, Juventudes Libertárias's Marquinhos Azevedo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Basílio Maranhense narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chepe Canido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mandi Oca, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. With a little luck, INTER FC's Basílio Maranhense got control of the ball when Marquinhos Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to INTER FC getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Luisinho Barbosa hit a great ball. Basílio Maranhense was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Carlos Alberto Torres. If João Carlos Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basílio Maranhense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andriy Shevchenko, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. The supporters of Juventudes Libertárias booed when INTER FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho Batista didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Carlos Alberto Torres managed to get in a good position for a shot. Juventudes Libertárias's supporters rose to their feet, but Carlos Alberto Torres was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Basílio Maranhense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chepe Canido stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hortêncio Linhares's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. When the match was over Juventudes Libertárias could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than INTER FC throughout the match.
