Augustin Nechifor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Leandro Candina made a huge save. FC Steaua Pildesti's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Augustin Nechifor in the 6th minute. Nichifor Vergulescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leandro Candina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augustin Nechifor in the 10th minute of the match. FC Steaua Pildesti were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Club Deportivo Santiago's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Augustin Nechifor took the corner. If Augustin Nechifor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Augustin Nechifor put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Leandro Candina. In the 25th minute Augustin Nechifor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leandro Candina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Augustin Nechifor made a great header on FC Steaua Pildesti's corner, it was just that Club Deportivo Santiago's Leandro Candina managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 29th minute of the match FC Steaua Pildesti got a corner. Club Deportivo Santiago's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Augustin Nechifor ran over to the corner to take the kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Adam Buș heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The supporters of Club Deportivo Santiago booed when FC Steaua Pildesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Răzvan Petrescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. 36 minutes into the game, Zuberoa Mesia cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Octavian Bogdănescu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With 42 minutes on the clock, Răzvan Petrescu commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 42 minutes into the game, one of FC Steaua Pildesti:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Xavies Hubieta walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 46 minutes into the game, Nichifor Vergulescu recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Leandro Candina. Nichifor Vergulescu showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Arturo Montiel to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nichifor Vergulescu in the 59th minute of play forced Club Deportivo Santiago's goalkeeper Leandro Candina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arturo Montiel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Rafael Criales fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Deportivo Santiago's protests and gave Rafael Criales a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Santiago's Rafael Criales got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Leandro Candina stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Traian Roşu's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. After 65 played minutes Club Deportivo Santiago got a freekick which was hit by Macías Camazon. In the 69th minute Traian Roşu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leandro Candina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leandro Candina took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nichifor Vergulescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on FC Steaua Pildesti's corner Augustin Nechifor fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Leandro Candina quite easily take care of the ball. Evelio Terres could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 74th minute of the match, but Octavian Bogdănescu made a huge save. A collision led to FC Steaua Pildesti getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Nichifor Vergulescu hit a great ball. After 76 minutes of play, Club Deportivo Santiago's Arturo Montiel made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Octavian Bogdănescu was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Club Deportivo Santiago booed when FC Steaua Pildesti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valer Uncheşelu didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot by Xavies Hubieta from long distance, 80 minutes into the match, got Octavian Bogdănescu's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 80th match minute, FC Steaua Pildesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costin Iorgu to maneuver through the defense. Costin Iorgu kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. After 84 played minutes Club Deportivo Santiago got a freekick which was hit by Xavies Hubieta. When Gomez Ayo fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Deportivo Santiago's protests and gave Gomez Ayo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th minute, Gomez Ayo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Costin Iorgu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 94 played minutes Club Deportivo Santiago got a freekick which was hit by Gomez Ayo. In the 96th minute, Costin Iorgu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Steaua Pildesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Steaua Pildesti fully deserved thier win.
