Leandro Candina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlinhos de Lara in the 17th minute of the match. Leandro Candina didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roy Pålsson went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. 33 minutes into the match, Juventudes Libertárias's goalkeeper Chepe Canido had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Evelio Terres. 37 minutes into the game, Carlinhos de Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Juventudes Libertárias's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Club Deportivo Santiago the free kick. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Santiago's Rafael Criales got a free kick in the 42nd minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arturo Montiel made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Isidoro Nabar made a precise shot to the right of Leandro Candina. After 91 minutes of play, Juventudes Libertárias's Andriy Shevchenko made it 0-8 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Leandro Candina was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Juventudes Libertárias getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Roy Pålsson hit a great ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Juventudes Libertárias walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
