Checa Lloreda started the match with the kick off. After 4 minutes, Checa Lloreda mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the UD ZAS and the Misericordia EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Texeira Magdalena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th minute, Ugaitz Camara ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paulo José Rodrigues was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 14th match minute, UD ZAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Torres Ororbia to maneuver through the defense. Paulo José Rodrigues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Checa Lloreda in the 17th minute of play. The supporters of UD ZAS booed when Misericordia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Maciel didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th minute, Texeira Magdalena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. UD ZAS's Ugaitz Camara got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With an all-out effort, Misericordia EC's Rey Cerezuela threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cássio Motta, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Misericordia EC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Cássio Motta hit a great ball. Bob Chute's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rey Cerezuela read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. A collision led to UD ZAS getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Cuero Socobio hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Caetano Mattos's late challenge caught a UD ZAS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caetano Mattos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 52nd minute, Caetano Mattos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Xinaro Ebro in the 53rd minute really tested Paulo José Rodrigues's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for UD ZAS! After a rather tough play, UD ZAS's Ugaitz Camara got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Rey Cerezuela stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cássio Motta's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Texeira Magdalena hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. 69 minutes into the game, Tiaguinho Freitas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Misericordia EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave UD ZAS the free kick. The supporters of Misericordia EC booed when UD ZAS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ugaitz Camara didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caetano Mattos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rey Cerezuela having to interfere. UD ZAS's Rey Cerezuela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cássio Motta in the 84th minute of play. In the 90th minute Bob Chute shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rey Cerezuela saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Checa Lloreda was shown his second yellow card after 97 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, UD ZAS's Checa Lloreda got a free kick in the 98th minute. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
