He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 40th minute, Eusébio Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aquiles Leonidas to strike the kick off in the second half. Gazi Seralp hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. Yıldırım Yaman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Nascimento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe's goalkeeper Yıldırım Yaman had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celso Nascimento. 78 minutes into the match, Fenerbahçe's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Luiz Teles came free, but Yıldırım Yaman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eusébio Andrade could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Yıldırım Yaman made a huge save. Flamengo FSCMZ's Luís Fábio Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tuncer İribaş in the 83rd minute of play. If Aquiles Leonidas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Fenerbahçe fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Flamengo FSCMZ were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
