Sidney Sousa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Zeca Cerezo made a huge save. Rony Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ulisses Carioca, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Reginaldo Paraibano kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute of the match Henrique Domingues shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rony Netto showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sidney Sousa got free with Zeca Cerezo in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 17th minute, Alfredo Loyola got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 19 played minutes Alvinegro Carioca got a freekick which was hit by Caio Cabral. After 21 minutes, Sidnei Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alvinegro Carioca and the MarquinhosEC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Alvinegro Carioca's Sidnei Mendonça got a free kick in the 21st minute. Ciro Simões fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rony Netto having to interfere. Rony Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulisses Carioca in the 29th minute of play. After some careless play in the MarquinhosEC defense, Sidney Sousa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zeca Cerezo. The MarquinhosEC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zeca Cerezo should have stopped the shot. In the 34th minute, Carlos Augusto Sampaio reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zeca Cerezo. The goal made the score 2-0. In the 37th minute, Alfredo Loyola hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. MarquinhosEC's Ulisses Carioca got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute Dorian Prado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rony Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 45th minute, MarquinhosEC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after José Augusto Quirino fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sidney Sousa to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to MarquinhosEC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Elano Xavier hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute of the match Sidnei Mendonça sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zeca Cerezo skillfully saved the ball. In the 64th minute, Carlos Augusto Sampaio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd rose to their feet as Reynaldo Souto kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rony Netto. That made the score 2-1 in the 70 minute of play. In the 73rd match minute, Alvinegro Carioca was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Sousa to maneuver through the defense. Zeca Cerezo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidney Sousa in the 78th minute of play. Sidney Sousa took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zeca Cerezo. Zeca Cerezo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. The supporters of Alvinegro Carioca booed when MarquinhosEC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duarte Barral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tadeu Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Alvinegro Carioca's Rony Netto got control of the ball when Ulisses Carioca tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Alvinegro Carioca support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
