The supporters of Alvinegro Carioca booed when Three Lions FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Kimmich didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Three Lions FC's Dênis de Castro got control of the ball when Hermínio Ferraz tried to sneak it across the goal line. The corner led Three Lions FC's George Kroos to fire away a dangerous shot which Rony Netto despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Carlos Augusto Sampaio fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alvinegro Carioca's protests and gave Carlos Augusto Sampaio a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Alvinegro Carioca getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Carlos Augusto Sampaio hit a great ball. George Kroos might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rony Netto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. George Kroos ran back to his position shaking his head. Rony Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Gonçalves in the 42nd minute of play. Rony Netto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ricardinho Pirani, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. A collision led to Alvinegro Carioca getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Carlos Augusto Sampaio hit a great ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Hermínio Ferraz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 54 minutes, Carlos Augusto Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alvinegro Carioca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Augusto Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Alvinegro Carioca's Rony Netto got control of the ball when Cafu de Moraes tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Three Lions FC booed when Alvinegro Carioca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hermínio Ferraz didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeferson Pombal got free with Rony Netto in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 75 minutes into the match, Alvinegro Carioca's goalkeeper Rony Netto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cafu de Moraes. George Kimmich kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Rony Netto made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Douglas Duarte sent off a good shot on target. Alvinegro Carioca's Rony Netto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Alvinegro Carioca from getting a goal against them. Three Lions FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
