Spectators: 7478 (Terracing: 5610, Seating: 1719, VIP seats: 149) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Behe Haedo started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, AFC - Curitiba's goalkeeper Arnaldo Lopes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Behe Haedo. Guillen Mijangos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nico Torres in the 17th minute of play. Guillen Mijangos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nico Torres in the 19th minute of the match. A collision led to AFC - Curitiba getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Nico Torres hit a great ball. Behe Haedo's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Arnaldo Lopes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Bonifacio Echarriza hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Humberto Leão scored 0-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Guillen Mijangos, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 36 played minutes Universitario got a freekick which was hit by Ekialde Viedes. 37 minutes into the match, Universitario's goal looked a bit too open when Humberto Leão came free, but Guillen Mijangos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute Humberto Leão shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Guillen Mijangos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ekialde Viedes kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Luiz Gustavo Braga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guillen Mijangos having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Luiz Gustavo Braga made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, AFC - Curitiba's Humberto Leão got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 57th minute, Bonifacio Echarriza hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Universitario's Guillen Mijangos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Gustavo Braga in the 62nd minute of play. A collision led to Universitario getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Bonifacio Echarriza hit a great ball. Universitario's Guillen Mijangos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Universitario from getting a goal against them. Nico Torres took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Guillen Mijangos. Guillen Mijangos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 74th minute, Luiz Gustavo Braga reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Guillen Mijangos. The goal made the score 0-3. Bonifacio Morentin's late challenge caught a AFC - Curitiba's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bonifacio Morentin helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Universitario getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Bonifacio Morentin hit a great ball. Universitario's Guillen Mijangos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Gustavo Braga in the 84th minute of play. Ekialde Viedes kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. Guillen Mijangos made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Humberto Leão sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Universitario defense, Nico Torres kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Guillen Mijangos. The Universitario fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Guillen Mijangos should have stopped the shot. 94 minutes into the match, Universitario's goal looked a bit too open when Nico Torres came free, but Guillen Mijangos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AFC - Curitiba's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
