The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Emanuel Giurcă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig-Arne Ödman in the 3rd minute of play. In the 5th match minute, FC Fanaticii was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugurel Bărăian to maneuver through the defense. 6 minutes into the match, Edmund Runberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emanuel Giurcă. FC Fanaticii's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edmund Runberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Edmund Runberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, AC Mayonnaise's Edmund Runberg ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Emanuel Giurcă. Emanuel Giurcă yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. 17 minutes in the game Sune Sjöö did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Kjell-Arne Lindberg. The supporters of AC Mayonnaise booed when FC Fanaticii was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horaţiu Zotincă didn't get a good kick on the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Sune Sjöö in the 22nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC Fanaticii's Mugurel Bărăian. In the 23rd match minute, FC Fanaticii was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mugurel Bărăian to maneuver through the defense. Johannes Häll made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Șerban Nanu in the 27th minute of play. Emanuel Giurcă stood somewhat misplaced when Stig-Arne Ödman came free in front of goal and shot 3-0 to the left of him in the 35 minute. After having played for 40 minutes, Șerban Nanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Fanaticii's supporters crossed their fingers, but Șerban Nanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sune Sjöö fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emanuel Giurcă having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edmund Runberg was the one to do the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Șerban Nanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Fanaticii's supporters rose to their feet, but Șerban Nanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Johannes Häll breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Johannes Häll showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costică Brănet in the 62nd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in AC Mayonnaise's zone, Șerban Nanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johannes Häll came out of the goal and Șerban Nanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. FC Fanaticii's Emanuel Giurcă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arne Njurenius in the 69th minute of play. In the 84th match minute, FC Fanaticii was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costică Brănet to maneuver through the defense. Edmund Runberg struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Emanuel Giurcă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AC Mayonnaise. In the 95th minute, Sune Lidberg sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and FC Fanaticii's Emanuel Giurcă didn't even have to move. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. AC Mayonnaise fully deserved thier win.
