Walmyr Bezerra was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 7 played minutes B-S-L got a freekick which was hit by Guga Ferraz. Hermínio Vergílio was extremely unlucky when he, in the 9th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 13th match minute, B-S-L was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Dracena to maneuver through the defense. When Pedro Paulo Paraíba came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Calesso FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Paulo Paraíba couldn't finish the play. After 16 played minutes B-S-L got a freekick which was hit by Alexandre Breckenfeld. Doni Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Paulo Paraíba, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Jorginho Andrade recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Paulo Paraíba in the 21st minute of play forced B-S-L's goalkeeper Doni Novaes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guga Ferraz hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. B-S-L's Doni Novaes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save B-S-L from getting a goal against them. When Cláudio Taffarel came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the B-S-L fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cláudio Taffarel couldn't finish the play. Nildo Berger kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Walmyr Bezerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Breckenfeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jorginho Andrade's late challenge caught a B-S-L's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jorginho Andrade helped the player get up and apologised. Jorginho Andrade kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. After 37 minutes of play, B-S-L's João Adolfo Fontes made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Walmyr Bezerra was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Breckenfeld in the 47th minute of play forced Calesso FC's goalkeeper Walmyr Bezerra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Adolfo Fontes to make the kick off. When João Adolfo Fontes came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the B-S-L fans jumped to their feet. The referee ignored Calesso FC's protests and gave Hermínio Vergílio a yellow card for diving instead. B-S-L made a substitution. Maurício Vasconcelos replaced Guga Ferraz. After 73 played minutes B-S-L got a freekick which was hit by Elder Domingues. Nildo Berger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 78 played minutes B-S-L got a freekick which was hit by Cláudio Taffarel. Erasmo Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Doni Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Calesso FC's Pedro Paulo Paraíba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Doni Novaes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Doni Novaes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Paulo Paraíba in the 85th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, João Adolfo Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot. B-S-L's supporters rose to their feet, but João Adolfo Fontes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walmyr Bezerra breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Walmyr Bezerra was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and João Adolfo Fontes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. João Adolfo Fontes really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. The B-S-L supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing B-S-L would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
