After 8 minutes, Marin Albescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Champions Iasi and the Motala players grew even worse after the yellow card. 12 minutes into the match, Dacian Jumancă had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Åke Björling. Motala's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dacian Jumancă was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. With an all-out effort, Champions Iasi's Åke Björling threw himself towards the right post 16 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sorin Năsturel, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Marin Albescu got his second yellow card in the match during the 17th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Sergiu Angheluță took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anton Åberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Dacian Jumancă kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Åke Björling. That made the score 2-0 in the 22 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cazimir Zăraşcu got free with Åke Björling in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Motala's Åke Björling proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Motala from getting a goal against them. Åke Björling stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cazimir Zăraşcu's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 34 minutes into the match, George Vâlcu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Åke Björling. Åke Björling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dacian Jumancă in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by George Vâlcu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 43 minutes into the game, Champions Iasi's Cazimir Zăraşcu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Åke Björling made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cazimir Zăraşcu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Sorin Năsturel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Åke Björling came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Champions Iasi's Dacian Jumancă. But to his dismay, Dacian Jumancă quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. If George Vâlcu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 64 minutes of play, Champions Iasi's Cazimir Zăraşcu made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Åke Björling was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 68th minute Dacian Jumancă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Åke Björling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Åke Björling showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from George Vâlcu, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. 76 minutes into the game, Cazimir Zăraşcu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Åke Björling was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Åke Björling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Vâlcu in the 80th minute of play. If Dacian Jumancă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Gigel Budac hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Motala's William Söderberg shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 92nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Sergiu Angheluță but with some difficulty.
