An unexpectedly hard shot by Esteban Hotz in the 18th minute of play forced Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goalkeeper Ondino Luan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Manuel Olivera in the 27th minute of play forced Quilmes's goalkeeper Christopher Hawthorne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28 played minutes Quilmes got a freekick which was hit by Esteban Hotz. After a rather tough play, Quilmes's Enrique Xabier got a free kick in the 29th minute. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's Valentín Olveira couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 30th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Quilmes. The supporters of Deportivo Peñarol FIFV booed when Quilmes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edgardo Ugutz didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Juan Manuel Olivera got free with Christopher Hawthorne in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fabián Estoyanoff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Christopher Hawthorne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ondino Luan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgardo Ugutz in the 44th minute of play. In the 45th minute of the match Quilmes got a corner. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Donato Nuxila ran over to the corner to take the kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Juan Manuel Olivera made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Juan Manuel Olivera shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christopher Hawthorne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabián Estoyanoff fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christopher Hawthorne having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Albano Ruisko hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Christopher Hawthorne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juan Manuel Olivera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ondino Luan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Terry Jones's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Christopher Hawthorne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Manuel Olivera in the 87th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's goalkeeper Ondino Luan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Esteban Hotz. The referee felt a red card was in order, 91 minutes into the game, when Enrique Xabier put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Quilmes fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 90th minute. Penalty! Quilmes:s Christopher Hawthorne showed great skill when he stopped Valentín Olveira:s penalty. The tension between the Deportivo Peñarol FIFV and the Quilmes players grew even worse after the yellow card. Oliverios Yaner hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
