An unexpectedly hard shot by György Kósa in the 4th minute of play forced Stiinta-Univ.'s goalkeeper Silviu Lung to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Silviu Lung took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from György Kósa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Matias Beti kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. If Irinel Itoafă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Saul Osoitz made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Manuel Burdujan sent off a good shot on target. With 22 minutes on the clock, Mihai Niță commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 32nd minute Froilan Arnas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silviu Lung saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Burdujan's late challenge caught a LegionArgentina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manuel Burdujan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd match minute, Stiinta-Univ. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Burdujan to maneuver through the defense. Stiinta-Univ.'s Irinel Itoafă got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

LegionArgentina's Rosendo Tabby was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Silviu Lung in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, Stiinta-Univ.'s Marcel Bărcăuan got a free kick in the 77th minute. If Irinel Itoafă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
