But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabian Page couldn't finish the play. Osvaldo Goren might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jean-Marie Pfaff. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Osvaldo Goren ran back to his position shaking his head. 10 minutes into the match, Menchu FC's Osvaldo Goren sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jean-Marie Pfaff narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cosmo Kramer charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cosmo Kramer the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Menchu FC's Felipe Quentin was substituted for Osvaldo Goren. After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Felipe Quentin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Menchu FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Felipe Quentin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jean-Marie Pfaff breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. American Airlines's Jean-Marie Pfaff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Quentin in the 15th minute of play. Angel Comizzo was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and George Costanza capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. George Costanza really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Jean-Marie Pfaff took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Quentin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Menchu FC fans' excitement grew in the 23rd match minute when Menchu FC's Felipe Quentin looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The crowd rose to their feet as American Airlines's George Costanza slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Angel Comizzo. That made the score 2-1 after 31 minutes of play. Angel Comizzo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luke Skywalker in the 41st minute of play. In the 42nd match minute, Menchu FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leandro Gonzalez Pirez to maneuver through the defense. Felipe Quentin struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Jean-Marie Pfaff didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Menchu FC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Felipe Quentin to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, American Airlines's Cosmo Kramer seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Cosmo Kramer the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of American Airlines protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Cosmo Kramer had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Jean-Marie Pfaff had in the 55thth minute some difficulties stopping Leandro Gonzalez Pirez's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Angel Comizzo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Costanza in the 59th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nelson Cuevas during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 66th minute, Nelson Cuevas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kristofer Loyd scored 3-1 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Angel Comizzo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jean-Marie Pfaff made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felipe Quentin in the 84th minute. After 85 minutes, Fabian Page mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the American Airlines and the Menchu FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to American Airlines getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Fabian Page hit a great ball. Nelson Cuevas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Marie Pfaff having to interfere. Leandro Gonzalez Pirez was shown his second yellow card after 92 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 92 played minutes Menchu FC got a freekick which was hit by Leandro Gonzalez Pirez. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Kristofer Loyd managed to get in a good position for a shot. American Airlines's supporters rose to their feet, but Kristofer Loyd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angel Comizzo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. George Costanza's late challenge caught a Menchu FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. George Costanza helped the player get up and apologised. George Costanza hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. American Airlines were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Menchu FC for a fine match.
