In the 5th minute Kristofer Loyd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Saul Osoitz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 minutes LegionArgentina's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was George Costanza who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on American Airlines's corner George Costanza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Saul Osoitz quite easily take care of the ball. Saul Osoitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Houston Floyd in the 12th minute of the match. After 13 minutes of play, American Airlines's George Costanza made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Saul Osoitz was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 16th minute, George Costanza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The American Airlines fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Costanza in the 20th minute of play forced LegionArgentina's goalkeeper Saul Osoitz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 21 minutes, George Costanza made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. LegionArgentina's Saul Osoitz tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Saul Osoitz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kristofer Loyd went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. A hard shot by Matias Beti from long distance, 27 minutes into the match, got Jean-Marie Pfaff's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 28 minutes into the game, Angel Mitxel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. LegionArgentina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave American Airlines the free kick. A collision led to LegionArgentina getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Angel Mitxel hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, LegionArgentina's Pablo Montrelle got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 30th minute of the match George Costanza sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Saul Osoitz skillfully saved the ball. Saul Osoitz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Costanza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 36 played minutes, LegionArgentina's Matias Beti shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jean-Marie Pfaff came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in LegionArgentina reached it. In the 39thth minute of the game George Costanza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LegionArgentina's Saul Osoitz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Houston Floyd in the 47th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Saul Osoitz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After the first half American Airlines were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. György Kósa was the one to do the kick off. Houston Floyd came free with the goalkeeper in the 54th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Saul Osoitz could save by the left post. If Houston Floyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 59 minutes into the match, Gustaw Wicherek had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jean-Marie Pfaff. American Airlines's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gustaw Wicherek was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. After a rather tough play, LegionArgentina's György Kósa got a free kick in the 65th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Houston Floyd in the 67th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Saul Osoitz saved LegionArgentina from getting behind. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 1-5 when Houston Floyd sped through LegionArgentina's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Saul Osoitz. Houston Floyd scored 1-6 in the 70th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Saul Osoitz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Through an outstanding action, after 79 minutes, Saul Osoitz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. With an all-out effort, American Airlines's Saul Osoitz threw himself towards the right post 80 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from George Costanza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Jean-Marie Pfaff showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from György Kósa, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when George Costanza got free with Saul Osoitz in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to LegionArgentina getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Gustaw Wicherek hit a great ball. With a little luck, LegionArgentina's Saul Osoitz got control of the ball when George Costanza tried to sneak it across the goal line. The LegionArgentina fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. American Airlines were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
