The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute Gualter Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jefferson Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 8 minutes of play, Academia Militar MZ's Toninho Dias made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jefferson Goiano was left in no man's land by his defense there! Toninho Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Toninho Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Toninho Dias hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Luiz Eduardo Tinoco left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Academia Militar MZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Xiboquinha FC's Jefferson Goiano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Toninho Dias in the 16th minute of play. Jefferson Goiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toninho Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Xiboquinha FC defense, Toninho Dias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jefferson Goiano. The Xiboquinha FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jefferson Goiano should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gualter Nóbrega in the 22nd minute of play forced Xiboquinha FC's goalkeeper Jefferson Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Gualter Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jefferson Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luiz Eduardo Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joélson Lopez's late challenge caught a Academia Militar MZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jefferson Goiano made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Jefferson Goiano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualter Nóbrega in the 36th minute of the match. If Rogério Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 39th minute Gualter Nóbrega shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jefferson Goiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Xiboquinha FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Carlos Fernando Sampaio hit a great ball. In the 44thth minute of the game Luiz Eduardo Tinoco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Xiboquinha FC's Jefferson Goiano was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gualter Nóbrega fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jefferson Goiano having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Xiboquinha FC's zone, Abelardo Valle stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jefferson Goiano came out of the goal and Abelardo Valle tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomás Quintal made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Eduardo Tinoco in the 52nd minute of play forced Xiboquinha FC's goalkeeper Jefferson Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 53 minutes into the game, Toninho Dias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Jefferson Goiano was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 57th minute, Academia Militar MZ's Luiz Gustavo da Silveira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jefferson Goiano. Jefferson Goiano yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. Jefferson Goiano made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Gualter Nóbrega sent off a good shot on target. In the 60th minute, Joélson Lopez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jefferson Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Eduardo Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Joélson Lopez was shown his second yellow card after 63 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 63rd match minute, Xiboquinha FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joélson Lopez to maneuver through the defense. After 65 played minutes Xiboquinha FC got a freekick which was hit by Hudson Urbano. A hard shot by Dedé Carneiro from long distance, 66 minutes into the match, got Jefferson Goiano's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After a defensive mix-up in Academia Militar MZ's zone, Hélder Meireles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvério Netto came out of the goal and Hélder Meireles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 73rd minute of the match, Gualter Nóbrega got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jefferson Goiano was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Jefferson Goiano made an important save on a dangerous shot by Toninho Dias in the 74th minute. Xiboquinha FC's Jefferson Goiano proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Xiboquinha FC from getting a goal against them. Toninho Dias received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jefferson Goiano came out and tried to block the shot, but Toninho Dias slotted it home off the left post making it 0-8 in the 79th minute. After 82 played minutes Xiboquinha FC got a freekick which was hit by Tomás Quintal. 85 minutes into the game, Hélder Meireles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Xiboquinha FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Academia Militar MZ the free kick. A collision led to Xiboquinha FC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Hélder Meireles hit a great ball. With his leg Jefferson Goiano managed to avoid a goal in the 87thth minute, when Academia Militar MZ's Rogério Gaúcho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos de Senna in the 90th minute of play forced Xiboquinha FC's goalkeeper Jefferson Goiano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Xiboquinha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Gustavo da Silveira came free, but Jefferson Goiano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Xiboquinha FC's Jefferson Goiano got control of the ball when Toninho Dias tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jefferson Goiano showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toninho Dias, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. The Xiboquinha FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Academia Militar MZ were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
