The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Xabel Beloki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesar Gil in the 4th minute of play. When Felipe Arauz came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the ORION F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Arauz couldn't finish the play. Xabel Beloki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesar Gil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xabel Beloki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Arauz, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Xabel Beloki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesar Gil in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Baltazar Fonticoba left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cesar Gil in the 25th minute of play forced ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Xabel Beloki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cugat Marines took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carman Jobson. Carman Jobson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. A sloppy throw-in by Alejandro Cedeño in the 30th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Anter Titos. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Xabel Beloki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cugat Marines's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Carman Jobson firmly grabbed it by the left post. Xabel Beloki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Corelli in the 37th minute of the match. The throw-in from Alejandro Cedeño in the 44th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's Anter Titos. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cesar Gil was the one to do the kick off. Xabel Beloki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felipe Arauz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO booed when ORION F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felipe Arauz didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 58 played minutes ORION F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Corelli. An unexpectedly hard shot by Juan Viqueira in the 62nd minute of play forced ORION F.C.'s goalkeeper Carman Jobson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Felipe Arauz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Xabel Beloki was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. In the 66th minute, Baltazar Fonticoba made a precise shot to the right of Carman Jobson. ORION F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO made a substitution. Ruperto Mendez replaced Baltazar Fonticoba. In the 72nd minute Cugat Marines shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carman Jobson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ruperto Mendez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carman Jobson having to interfere. After a rather tough play, ORION F.C.'s Hermes Tello got a free kick in the 81st minute. 82 minutes into the match, ORION F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Cugat Marines came free, but Carman Jobson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goal looked a bit too open when Felipe Arauz came free, but Xabel Beloki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xabel Beloki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Arauz in the 83rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Cugat Marines managed to get in a good position for a shot. ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's supporters rose to their feet, but Cugat Marines was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carman Jobson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 87thth minute of the game Ruperto Mendez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ORION F.C.'s Carman Jobson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ruperto Mendez in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carman Jobson saved ORION F.C. from getting behind. 89 minutes into the match, ClUb DePoRtIvO LUGO's goalkeeper Xabel Beloki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cesar Gil.
