After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Rubens Diniz managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Beatles's supporters rose to their feet, but Rubens Diniz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Thiago Couto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dadá Pereira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronaldão Diniz in the 8th minute. The supporters of Grêmio Prudente booed when The Beatles was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute, Jacinto Damião ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Couto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 22 minutes into the match, Teodoro Carioca had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Thiago Couto. Grêmio Prudente's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Teodoro Carioca was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Rubens Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Teodoro Carioca scored 0-3 in the 27th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Thiago Couto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 30 minutes into the game, Ulysses Simões was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Beatles's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grêmio Prudente the free kick. Ulysses Simões hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Hermínio Cunha took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 31st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dadá Pereira. The Beatles's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Grêmio Prudente's goalkeeper Thiago Couto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Teodoro Carioca's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Couto was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. Teodoro Carioca might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thiago Couto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Teodoro Carioca ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 51st minute, Teodoro Carioca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Couto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. Teodoro Carioca recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Grêmio Prudente's Thiago Couto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Grêmio Prudente from getting a goal against them. In the 61st minute, Teodoro Carioca ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Couto was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. The crowd rose to their feet as Samuca Barros kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Thiago Couto. That made the score 0-6 in the 64 minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rubens Diniz got free with Thiago Couto in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Samuca Barros fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Beatles's protests and gave Samuca Barros a yellow card for diving instead. Jacinto Damião struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Thiago Couto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for The Beatles. In the 84th minute Vito Prestes collided with an opponent which caused him a fractured collar bone. When Arthur Cardozo fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored The Beatles's protests and gave Arthur Cardozo a yellow card for diving instead. After 85 played minutes The Beatles got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Cardozo. With a little luck, Grêmio Prudente's Thiago Couto got control of the ball when Teodoro Carioca tried to sneak it across the goal line. Grêmio Prudente's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Samuca Barros 92 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-7. The The Beatles supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing The Beatles would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
