Spectators: 7751 (Terracing: 5815, Seating: 1782, VIP seats: 154) Pinhote FC's Américo Severo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Carter Marsili was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 6th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. After 10 played minutes San Mauro A Mare FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Nanni. After 11 played minutes, Pinhote FC's Severiano Prates shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Anselmo Costacurta came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pinhote FC reached it. In the 20th minute Carter Marsili shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Higino Pessoa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Pinhote FC booed when San Mauro A Mare FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Rea didn't get a good kick on the ball. San Mauro A Mare FC's Fausto Rea got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermenegildo Teles in the 32nd minute of play forced San Mauro A Mare FC's goalkeeper Anselmo Costacurta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, San Mauro A Mare FC's Ernesto Baresi got a free kick in the 34th minute. The long shot by Severiano Prates in the 35th minute really tested Anselmo Costacurta's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Higino Pessoa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dave Pittelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 37th minute, Ernesto Baresi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Higino Pessoa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carter Marsili, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Carter Marsili had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carter Marsili to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Márcio Antas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dave Pittelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Pinhote FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Hermenegildo Teles hit a great ball. In the 59th match minute, San Mauro A Mare FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aurelio Benarrivo to maneuver through the defense. Pinhote FC's Américo Severo got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 63 played minutes, Pinhote FC's Dércio Brandão shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Anselmo Costacurta came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pinhote FC reached it. After 65 played minutes San Mauro A Mare FC got a freekick which was hit by Carter Marsili. With a little luck, Pinhote FC's Higino Pessoa got control of the ball when Dave Pittelli tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 79th minute Américo Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anselmo Costacurta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Pinhote FC's Américo Severo got a free kick in the 82nd minute. When Severiano Prates fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pinhote FC's protests and gave Severiano Prates a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 played minutes Pinhote FC got a freekick which was hit by Severiano Prates. Carter Marsili recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, Pinhote FC could leave the field as winners, despite San Mauro A Mare FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
