Gervasio Chuan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mario Gleason, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32ndth minute of the game Manual Hope who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but berretaweres's Gervasio Chuan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Sport Lisboa e Benfica's Manual Hope sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gervasio Chuan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some careless play in the berretaweres defense, Mario Gleason kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gervasio Chuan. The berretaweres fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gervasio Chuan should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as Herminio Dorio kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marco Beauchesne. That made the score 3-1 in the 41 minute of play. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind berretaweres's goalkeeper Gervasio Chuan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
