Nico Penha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Veiga in the 22nd minute of play forced Capibaribe Stars's goalkeeper Nico Penha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, America Futebol Clube SP's Rony Neiva got a free kick in the 25th minute. The referee ignored Capibaribe Stars's protests and gave Váldson de Sena a yellow card for diving instead. In the 43rd minute, Váldson de Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 46 played minutes America Futebol Clube SP got a freekick which was hit by Guto Sarmento. After the first half America Futebol Clube SP were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Raimundo Camargo was the one to do the kick off. Zé Pedro de Queirós showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandrinho Pinho in the 51st minute of the match. Nico Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Veiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After a rather tough play, Capibaribe Stars's Eliseu de Brito got a free kick in the 56th minute. Fausto de Souza received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. He walked away shaking his head. Guto Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nico Penha having to interfere. 82 minutes into the match, America Futebol Clube SP's goal looked a bit too open when Raimundo Camargo came free, but Zé Pedro de Queirós reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Víktor Terra kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match.
