Eustratios Vertsotis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justino Quinito in the 17th minute of the match. The corner led SAN LORENZO FC's Aristides Castel to a score. 0-1 in the 18th minute. A collision led to Olympiacos FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Fotis Nousias hit a great ball. When Justino Quinito came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the SAN LORENZO FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Justino Quinito couldn't finish the play. Olympiacos FC made a substitution. Thanos Kotridis replaced Dimitris Koudas. In the 27th match minute, SAN LORENZO FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nereo Timo to maneuver through the defense. When Thanos Kotridis came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Olympiacos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thanos Kotridis couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as Soulis Partalis kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Natalio Mitxaut. That made the score 1-1 in the 31 minute of play. Aristides Castel scored 1-2 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eustratios Vertsotis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eustratios Vertsotis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aristides Castel in the 38th minute of play. Natalio Mitxaut took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Soulis Partalis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to SAN LORENZO FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Nereo Rodas hit a great ball. Natalio Mitxaut showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thanos Kotridis, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Aristides Castel was the one to do the kick off. Nereo Rodas's late challenge caught a Olympiacos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nereo Rodas helped the player get up and apologised. After 58 played minutes SAN LORENZO FC got a freekick which was hit by Nereo Rodas. SAN LORENZO FC's Federico Eleazar was substituted for Nereo Rodas. After a rather tough play, SAN LORENZO FC's Nereo Rodas got a free kick in the 59th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Aristides Castel managed to get in a good position for a shot. SAN LORENZO FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Aristides Castel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eustratios Vertsotis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Natalio Mitxaut made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thanos Kotridis in the 74th minute of play. When Alexis Dellios came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Olympiacos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexis Dellios couldn't finish the play. SAN LORENZO FC's Natalio Mitxaut played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thanos Kotridis in the 79th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Fondas Kalantas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Natalio Mitxaut was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. Aristides Castel hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. After 88 played minutes SAN LORENZO FC got a freekick which was hit by Federico Eleazar. Fondas Kalantas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Natalio Mitxaut. SAN LORENZO FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Aristides Castel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 95th minute Markos Kareklopoulos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Natalio Mitxaut saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristides Castel in the 96th minute of play forced Olympiacos FC's goalkeeper Eustratios Vertsotis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle jeers and boos were heard from the home team's supporters. They were angered to see Olympiacos FC lose a match they had controlled from the kick-off.
