The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Clyde Schembri Zerafa during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Celestiales booed when Attard Gunners was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clyde Schembri Zerafa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isaias Beliran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clyde Schembri Zerafa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the game, Lawrence De Marco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Attard Gunners's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Celestiales the free kick. In the 20th minute, Lawrence De Marco made a precise shot to the right of Isaias Beliran. Celestiales's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After 26 minutes, Aldo Isusko mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Celestiales and the Attard Gunners players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 26 played minutes Celestiales got a freekick which was hit by Aldo Isusko. 27 minutes into the match, Celestiales's goal looked a bit too open when Lawrence De Marco came free, but Isaias Beliran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute of the match Attard Gunners got a corner. Celestiales's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Angelo Incorvaia ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 33rd minute Mario Pullicino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaias Beliran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 36 minutes of play, Attard Gunners's Thomas Zrinzo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Isaias Beliran was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lawrence De Marco made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Celestiales's goalkeeper Isaias Beliran had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thomas Zrinzo. Attard Gunners's Clyde Schembri Zerafa got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 55 minutes, Isidoro Javiero managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Celestiales's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isidoro Javiero was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 58th match minute, Celestiales was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severo Veremundo to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nunez Toribio in the 61st minute of play forced Attard Gunners's goalkeeper Amadeo Rapinett to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 67th minute Clyde Schembri Zerafa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isaias Beliran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With an all-out effort, Attard Gunners's Isaias Beliran threw himself towards the right post 84 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lawrence De Marco, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Isidoro Javiero blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Amadeo Rapinett having to make a save. Celestiales's Isaias Beliran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Celestiales from getting a goal against them. 95 minutes into the match, Celestiales's goal looked a bit too open when Clyde Schembri Zerafa came free, but Isaias Beliran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle sounded Attard Gunners left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Celestiales.
