When Junior Maldini came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the A.S. Udinese fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Junior Maldini couldn't finish the play. Fedele Schiacciacasse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nae Costin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Junior Maldini, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Junior Maldini in the 16th minute of play forced Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Nae Costin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 17 minutes, Junior Maldini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.S. Udinese's supporters crossed their fingers, but Junior Maldini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Junior Maldini spun around in front of the goal 18 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goal. Junior Maldini had several of the Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 20 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Nae Costin as he didn't even see the shot coming. Maurito Tassotti hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Nae Costin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Junior Maldini in the 26th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, A.S. Udinese's goal looked a bit too open when Mădălin Brăiloiu came free, but Fedele Schiacciacasse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Junior Maldini in the 31st minute of play forced Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Nae Costin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Nae Costin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Junior Maldini in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd match minute, A.S. Udinese was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Filippo Di Cesare to maneuver through the defense. Nae Costin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Junior Maldini, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 44th minute, Lucian Voinescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A.S. Udinese made a substitution. Ermanno Moscatelli replaced Junior Maldini. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ermanno Moscatelli to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, A.S. Udinese's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Narcis Aursulesei fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. A.S. Udinese made a substitution. Roby Donadoni replaced Maurito Tassotti. When Alessandro Del Pizzo fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored A.S. Udinese's protests and gave Alessandro Del Pizzo a yellow card for diving instead. Ermanno Moscatelli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nae Costin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Ermanno Moscatelli blasted a shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nae Costin having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermanno Moscatelli in the 72nd minute of play forced Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Nae Costin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Mădălin Brăiloiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fedele Schiacciacasse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mădălin Brăiloiu in the 75th minute of play. Fedele Schiacciacasse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Șerban Guguianu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexander Cagnetta scored 2-0 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nae Costin, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Nae Costin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ermanno Moscatelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Lucian Voinescu hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Ermanno Moscatelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. A.S. Udinese fully deserved thier win.
