After 24 played minutes, Sliema Dragons FC's Leo Scalpello shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Maximino Constancio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. Club Deportivo Álvarez's Guillermo Manilan got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Club Deportivo Álvarez's Maximino Constancio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Buttigieg in the 40th minute of play. Epifanio Silviano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Marcelo Severiano made a huge save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guillermo Manilan was the one to do the kick off.
