The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when DFP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sixten Wenerdahl didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sascha Andre Rennert got free with Aleksander Eliasson in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 35th minute Rot-Weiss-Essen were awarded a corner. Hannes Kapell went to the cornerflag to take it.
