In the 20th minute András Hámori shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Evans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th match minute, SÉ SE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by László Pálinkás to maneuver through the defense. In the 36th minute, Norbert Rózsa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mátyás Török's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Mark Evans firmly grabbed it by the left post. After some careless play in the SÉ SE defense, Daniele Di Nardo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gyula Grosics. The SÉ SE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gyula Grosics should have stopped the shot. Cristiano Baresi hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match.

54 minutes into the match, SÉ SE's goalkeeper Gyula Grosics had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniele Danza. In the 54th match minute, SÉ SE was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pál Pulai to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniele Danza got free with Gyula Grosics in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. AC Civetta Notturna made a substitution. Demetrio Colelli replaced Cristiano Baresi. Gyula Grosics was a little too slow when Daniele Danza got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 74th minute. The score was now 0-2. The supporters of SÉ SE booed when AC Civetta Notturna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniele Danza didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mark Evans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mátyás Török in the 77th minute of the match. Aldo Ruscitti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gyula Grosics having to interfere. Aldo Ruscitti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Gyula Grosics tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as AC Civetta Notturna's Bernardo Carbonaro slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gyula Grosics. That made the score 0-3 after 84 minutes of play. The supporters of AC Civetta Notturna booed when SÉ SE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. László Pálinkás didn't get a good kick on the ball. AC Civetta Notturna's Demetrio De Felice got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A hard shot 92 in the game by Daniele Danza from a close distance when the talented Gyula Grosics managed to make a qualified save. SÉ SE's players were relieved.
