The audience was convinced that Yan Netto's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Evert Wennerquist was relentless in the 4th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in VfL Wolfsburg's zone, Hernani Tavares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evert Wennerquist came out of the goal and Hernani Tavares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emil Sörman kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Torsten Salqvist succeeded in the game's 31st minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Evert Wennerquist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yan Netto in the 34th minute of the match. If Hernani Tavares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 40 minutes into the match, Pesqueira City's goal looked a bit too open when Edmund Stenman came free, but Ivo de Moraes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th match minute, Pesqueira City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernani Tavares to maneuver through the defense. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edmund Stenman was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Pesqueira City defense, Edmund Stenman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ivo de Moraes. The Pesqueira City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ivo de Moraes should have stopped the shot. In the 64th minute Torsten Salqvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo de Moraes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Evert Wennerquist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernani Tavares in the 68th minute of play. A collision led to VfL Wolfsburg getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Edmund Stenman hit a great ball. Pesqueira City's Ivo de Moraes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmund Stenman in the 73rd minute of play. Yan Netto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Evert Wennerquist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Yan Netto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Evert Wennerquist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marquinhos Moraes in the 79th minute. VfL Wolfsburg's Evert Wennerquist proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save VfL Wolfsburg from getting a goal against them. Bengt-Arne Löfskog's late challenge caught a Pesqueira City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bengt-Arne Löfskog helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Pesqueira City booed when VfL Wolfsburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 89 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bengt-Arne Löfskog didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yan Netto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. VfL Wolfsburg's defense didn't have a chance, in the 96th minute, when Hernani Tavares scored to the left of an out of position Evert Wennerquist, making the score, 2-3.
