An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Toninho Arruda got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Justo Romo was the one to do the kick off. After 54 minutes, Jesus Frichoso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Club Sportivo Italiano and the Monumento Sports players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Nicolas Matorin fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Monumento Sports's protests and gave Nicolas Matorin a yellow card for diving instead. Jesus Frichoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justo Romo in the 77th minute of play forced Monumento Sports's goalkeeper Natanael Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fermin Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Natanael Sena having to interfere. Despite being the better team, Club Sportivo Italiano failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
