With an extended leg and a bit of luck Natanael Sena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Monumento Sports's Natanael Sena played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tião Tróia in the 23rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caio Boldrini in the 25th minute of play forced Monumento Sports's goalkeeper Natanael Sena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Artur Fonelleda made in the 29th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Caio Boldrini immediately put the ball in play. In the 30th match minute, Monumento Sports was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joel Lopes to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Monumento Sports getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Márcio Nunes hit a great ball. After having played for 37 minutes, Joel Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Monumento Sports's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Lopes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joel Lopes got free with Carlos Augusto Recife in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Adriano Cunha hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Joel Lopes scored 1-0 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Augusto Recife, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Natanael Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tião Tróia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The wind increased when Toninho Arruda made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Artur Fonelleda during the 51st minute.
