Academia Rio's Nechifor Epure proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Academia Rio from getting a goal against them. 13 minutes into the match, Mathias Huiting had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nechifor Epure. Academia Rio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mathias Huiting was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Zé Pedro Valadares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iurie Mutu in the 18th minute of play. Paul Cucu got a throw-in 21 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Nicu Burtea. After 22 minutes, Harris Theisens mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ágætis Byrjun and the Academia Rio players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 22nd match minute, Ágætis Byrjun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harris Theisens to maneuver through the defense. Paul van Mol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paul van Mol got free with Nechifor Epure in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the match, Paul van Mol notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Academia Rio's Nechifor Epure. Nechifor Epure was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ioan Oltean stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes of play, Ágætis Byrjun's Paul van Mol made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nechifor Epure was left in no man's land by his defense there! Robert Folkers hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. Nechifor Epure showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mathias Huiting in the 64th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Ágætis Byrjun's Paul van Mol sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nechifor Epure narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 72nd minute Mathias Huiting shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Epure saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nechifor Epure didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paul van Mol went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Academia Rio's goalkeeper Nechifor Epure, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 81 minutes Academia Rio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Lucien de Ridder who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Ágætis Byrjun's Lucien de Ridder to fire away a dangerous shot which Nechifor Epure despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Paul van Mol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Nechifor Epure took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul van Mol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nechifor Epure didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Paul van Mol went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. In the 92nd minute, Paul van Mol made a precise shot to the right of Nechifor Epure. Academia Rio's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. Ágætis Byrjun's Paul van Mol got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ágætis Byrjun's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
