Paulo Txatxu made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Lucho Pérez sent off a good shot on target. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jaume Mattei during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes Q. T. I. got a freekick which was hit by German Veto. The supporters of Q. T. I. booed when Colo-Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esteban Pavez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 13 played minutes, Q. T. I.'s Jaime Menendo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Marino Sadin came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Q. T. I. reached it. In the 22nd minute, Nauzet Schorr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Domenico Báez made a kick off. A collision led to Colo-Colo getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Domenico Báez hit a great ball. The long shot by German Veto in the 51st minute really tested Marino Sadin's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Nauzet Schorr kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Marino Sadin acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 59th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jaime Menendo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermegildo Sotil in the 62nd minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Marino Sadin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marino Sadin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Delmiro Macerio in the 64th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Q. T. I. walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
