Spectators: 7960 (Terracing: 5971, Seating: 1831, VIP seats: 158) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Edgard Cabral started the match with the kick off. In the 4th minute, Edgard Cabral ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Álvaro Zanette was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 13 minutes into the match, Goiás Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Mané Quirino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Christiano Alves. 18 minutes into the game, Goiás Esporte Clube's Edgard Cabral nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Álvaro Zanette made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Christian Carioca hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Goiás Esporte Clube's Mané Quirino got control of the ball when Christiano Alves tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 30th minute, Christian Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Álvaro Zanette made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Cabral in the 34th minute of play. The throw-in from Fabiano Figueiredo in the 35th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Goiás Esporte Clube's Nilmar Secco. 37 minutes into the match, CA Portugália's goal looked a bit too open when Edgard Cabral came free, but Álvaro Zanette reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Evandro Barros hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in CA Portugália's zone, Osmar de Moraes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Álvaro Zanette came out of the goal and Osmar de Moraes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Osmar de Moraes fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Goiás Esporte Clube's protests and gave Osmar de Moraes a yellow card for diving instead. Wilton Motta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mané Quirino having to interfere. The CA Portugália players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Goiás Esporte Clube were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wilton Motta to strike the kick off in the second half. Álvaro Zanette showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edgard Cabral in the 50th minute of the match. Through an outstanding action, after 51 minutes, Álvaro Zanette successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Mané Quirino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Celso Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 67th minute, Jarbas Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Edgard Cabral took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Álvaro Zanette. Álvaro Zanette dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Álvaro Zanette took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgard Cabral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Edgard Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Evandro Barros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 80 minutes into the match, Osmar de Moraes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Álvaro Zanette, 0-4. Álvaro Zanette stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Osmar de Moraes's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Osmar de Moraes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Álvaro Zanette tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Goiás Esporte Clube's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
