The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Roderick Gordon fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Seraċini Għawdxin's protests and gave Roderick Gordon a yellow card for diving instead. Roderick Gordon kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. In the 8th minute Robert Seychell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erasto Quizan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Erasto Quizan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Seychell in the 8th minute of play. Playa Malvín's Erasto Quizan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudio Meli in the 13th minute of play. Enzo Vogrinčičs short, quick shot in the 15thth minute got Dejan Cumbo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Erasto Quizan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Robert Seychell in the 16th minute of the match. Dejan Cumbo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gauargi Molleda in the 18th minute of play. Enzo Vogrinčič's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dejan Cumbo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 22nd minute of play. Seraċini Għawdxin's Dejan Cumbo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gauargi Molleda in the 24th minute of play. Playa Malvín's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alberino Riesco in the 26th minute. Enzo Vogrinčič blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dejan Cumbo having to make a save. 29 minutes into the match, Seraċini Għawdxin's goalkeeper Dejan Cumbo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Enzo Vogrinčič. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Enzo Vogrinčič managed to get in a good position for a shot. Playa Malvín's supporters rose to their feet, but Enzo Vogrinčič was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dejan Cumbo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kiru Kuri's late challenge caught a Seraċini Għawdxin's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kiru Kuri helped the player get up and apologised. In the 33rd minute, Kiru Kuri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enzo Vogrinčič had several of the Seraċini Għawdxin's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 37 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Dejan Cumbo as he didn't even see the shot coming. 43 minutes into the match, Enzo Vogrinčič had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dejan Cumbo. Seraċini Għawdxin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enzo Vogrinčič was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. A collision led to Playa Malvín getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Efren Domao hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Gauargi Molleda in the 52nd minute of play forced Seraċini Għawdxin's goalkeeper Dejan Cumbo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 53 minutes, Enzo Vogrinčič managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Playa Malvín's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enzo Vogrinčič was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Playa Malvín's Erasto Quizan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Playa Malvín from getting a goal against them. Seraċini Għawdxin made a substitution. Clayton Vella replaced Claudio Meli. After some careless play in the Seraċini Għawdxin defense, Enzo Vogrinčič kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dejan Cumbo. The Seraċini Għawdxin fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dejan Cumbo should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Enzo Vogrinčič's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dejan Cumbo was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Enzo Vogrinčič blasted a shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dejan Cumbo having to make a save. In the 77th minute, Paul Montebello hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luca Callus kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Enzo Vogrinčič had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dejan Cumbo. Seraċini Għawdxin's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enzo Vogrinčič was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Dejan Cumbo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enzo Vogrinčič's shot from short distance in the 86th minute. In the 92nd minute, Godofredo Maysonet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute, Keith Cassar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 97th minute, Enzo Vogrinčič left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Playa Malvín fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-1. Seraċini Għawdxin's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
