The Jovens Democratas MZC fans' excitement grew in the 3rd match minute when Jovens Democratas MZC's Erasmo de Godoi looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 6 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Pattharawut Sirikeartkumjorn. Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 14 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's goal looked a bit too open when Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul came free, but Murillo Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Giuseppe Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Jovens Democratas MZC's Erasmo de Godoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Godo Gøl narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Henrique Paiva hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul in the 21st minute of play forced Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Murillo Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute, FC Lugano's Pattharawut Sirikeartkumjorn seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Pattharawut Sirikeartkumjorn the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of FC Lugano protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Pattharawut Sirikeartkumjorn had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. FC Lugano:s Godo Gøl showed great skill when he stopped Gilson Barros:s penalty. FC Lugano's Qiao Jian was substituted for Ray Büeler. In the 35th minute, Percival Mangueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Erasmo de Godoi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Godo Gøl made a huge save. Jovens Democratas MZC's Murillo Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vico Sticher in the 40th minute of play. Abel Dracena kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Lugano's supporters rose to their feet, but Nathongchai Borwongovitsakul was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Murillo Pinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Godo Gøl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erasmo de Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Qiao Jian stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Godo Gøl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giuseppe Negri, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Jovens Democratas MZC booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gregor Wirth didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Jovens Democratas MZC's goalkeeper Murillo Pinho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marco Polo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Godo Gøl having to interfere. Murillo Pinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Qiao Jian in the 70th minute. In the 73rd minute Erasmo de Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godo Gøl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Erasmo de Godoi's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Godo Gøl was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Erasmo de Godoi in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Godo Gøl prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 81 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Gregor Wirth. Luís Paulo Domingues blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Godo Gøl having to make a save. Jeremias Britto scored 3-0 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Godo Gøl, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jeremias Britto hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Jovens Democratas MZC fully deserved thier win.
