The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Celestino Clementi made a fantastic save in the 3rd minute, when Benjamin Valiente sent off a good shot on target. Robustiano Quintyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Miguel Sancho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Amador Urti fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newells Old Boys's protests and gave Amador Urti a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FrenaHayBache booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amador Urti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Benjamin Valiente received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Celestino Clementi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. FrenaHayBache's Celestino Clementi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save FrenaHayBache from getting a goal against them. Miguel Sancho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robustiano Quintyn in the 19th minute of play. In the 22nd minute the ball was on its way in behind FrenaHayBache's goalkeeper Celestino Clementi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 24th minute, Alfonso Etxatxu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Newells Old Boys fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Robustiano Quintyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robustiano Quintyn struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Miguel Sancho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FrenaHayBache. Robustiano Quintyn struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Miguel Sancho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FrenaHayBache. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Prospero Ekhi to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Newells Old Boys's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Robustiano Quintyn fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Robustiano Quintyn struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Miguel Sancho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FrenaHayBache. 58 minutes into the match, FrenaHayBache's goal looked a bit too open when Prospero Ekhi came free, but Celestino Clementi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 60 minutes, Robustiano Quintyn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FrenaHayBache's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robustiano Quintyn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Prospero Ekhi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The throw-in from Alfonso Etxatxu in the 63rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FrenaHayBache's Ciro Leguizamón. A hard shot 64 in the game by Robustiano Quintyn from a close distance when the talented Miguel Sancho managed to make a qualified save. Newells Old Boys's players were relieved. If Robustiano Quintyn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Victorino Leocadio came free, but Miguel Sancho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, Robustiano Quintyn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dante Enol during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Benjamin Valiente got a free kick in the 84th minute. After 87 minutes, Victorino Leocadio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FrenaHayBache and the Newells Old Boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. Victorino Leocadio hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match.
