The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Dimo got free with Osvaldo Cadena in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Mercado Paulista F.C's Natalio Ralondo got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 15th minute, Brooklyn SC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ramon Tancredo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brooklyn SC's goalkeeper Osvaldo Cadena, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Mercado Paulista F.C's Natalio Ralondo got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute, Scot Lincoln hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 21 minutes into the match, Brooklyn SC's goal looked a bit too open when Inocencio Matai came free, but Osvaldo Cadena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Angelo Romano hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, Mercado Paulista F.C's Alfredo Dimo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Osvaldo Cadena narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Randall Haynes in the 46th minute of play forced Mercado Paulista F.C's goalkeeper Isaias Quirze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Brooklyn SC booed when Mercado Paulista F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximiliano Urtungo didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

Osvaldo Cadena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercado Paulista F.C. Isaias Quirze made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Randall Haynes in the 59th minute of play. When Maximiliano Urtungo fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mercado Paulista F.C's protests and gave Maximiliano Urtungo a yellow card for diving instead. After 60 played minutes Mercado Paulista F.C got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Urtungo. Randall Haynes scored 3-2 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Isaias Quirze, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 71st minute of the match Natalio Ralondo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Osvaldo Cadena skillfully saved the ball. In the 75th minute, Brooklyn SC's Warren Childers seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Warren Childers the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Brooklyn SC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Warren Childers had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. A.J. Spangler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Isaias Quirze tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Randall Haynes in the 84th minute of play forced Mercado Paulista F.C's goalkeeper Isaias Quirze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Randall Haynes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Isaias Quirze. That made the score 4-3 in the 84 minute of play. 93 minutes into the match, Victorino Lop had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Osvaldo Cadena. Brooklyn SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Victorino Lop was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-3. Brooklyn SC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
