Spectators: 7550 (Terracing: 5664, Seating: 1736, VIP seats: 150) Florencio Kemen made the kick off and thus started the match. David Bettney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Florencio Kemen, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. The Corinthians FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. In the 33rd minute, one of Corinthians FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Corinthians FC. The referee gave Newells Old Boys a penalty, 34 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Florencio Kemen, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Corinthians FC's David Bettney. 2-1. Johnny Wadham took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ubaldo Silvanito. Ubaldo Silvanito dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. Trevor Burkinshaw charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee felt a red card was in order, 90 minutes into the game, when German Donio put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Newells Old Boys fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 89th minute. Penalty! In the 92nd minute there was a penalty for Corinthians FC. Tris Stockley stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ubaldo Silvanito. 5-1. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Corinthians FC fully deserved thier win.
