Club Atlético de Newell's Matthew Edwards played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Montez in the 11th minute of play. Matthew Edwards made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saul Montez in the 12th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Spike Lambley during the 18th minute. Barrie Lester hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Saul Montez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Matthew Edwards was relentless in the 34th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Clodoveo Llanos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lyons's supporters rose to their feet, but Clodoveo Llanos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 75th minute, Clodoveo Llanos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Club Atlético de Newell's Matthew Edwards proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético de Newell from getting a goal against them.
