Polar Ice Caps's Bengt Holmberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gottfrid Rang in the 7th minute of play. In the 9th minute, Alf Lindmark left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Surahammar fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. A collision led to Surahammar getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Joachim Hellgren hit a great ball. Alf Lindmark scored 0-2 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bengt Holmberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 16 minutes into the match, Polar Ice Caps's goal looked a bit too open when Joachim Hellgren came free, but Bengt Holmberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arne Ambjörnsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Georg Borre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Surahammar getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Alf Lindmark hit a great ball. In the 27th minute, Joachim Hellgren made a precise shot to the right of Bengt Holmberg. Polar Ice Caps's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 29 minutes into the match, Joachim Hellgren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bengt Holmberg. Polar Ice Caps's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joachim Hellgren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-4. When Joachim Hellgren, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 35 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Bengt Holmberg was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. A sloppy throw-in by Ivar Östman in the 37th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Polar Ice Caps's Wolf-Jürgen von Buol-Schaudenstein. The referee felt a red card was in order, 40 minutes into the game, when Ernst Tingelholm put in a rough tackle. Bengt Holmberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Calle Beck, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ingemar Eckegren to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Surahammar got a freekick which was hit by Rudolf Larsson. Henning Brodin hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. In the 71st minute Gottfrid Rang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bengt Holmberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, Polar Ice Caps's goalkeeper Bengt Holmberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alf Lindmark. The supporters of Surahammar booed when Polar Ice Caps was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Markus Lundström didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Peder Ahlkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 92nd minute by Alf Lindmark got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Bengt Holmberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alf Lindmark in the 95th minute. Surahammar's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
