Merexildo Contero charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Merexildo Contero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Merexildo Contero hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Tasos Tsirigopoulos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 7thth minute, Washington Aguerre skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Omiros Bakogiannopoulos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcelo Zalayeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's Washington Aguerre played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Menios Stelakis in the 12th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's Lluterio Mendibuey nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Omiros Bakogiannopoulos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The referee felt a red card was in order, 23 minutes into the game, when Petros Labiris put in a rough tackle. Petros Labiris kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Lluterio Mendibuey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Omiros Bakogiannopoulos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victorino Caravantes in the 33rd minute of play. In the 35th minute Marcelo Zalayeta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Omiros Bakogiannopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes in the game, Theodosis Theodorakoglou fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Washington Aguerre having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tasos Tsirigopoulos got free with Washington Aguerre in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half Deportivo Peñarol FIFV were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Marcelo Zalayeta made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Marcelo Zalayeta made a precise shot to the right of Omiros Bakogiannopoulos. Deportivo Peñarol FIFV's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
