With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rômulo Neiva prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 21 minutes into the match, Flores da Cunha - RS's goal looked a bit too open when Andres Villalobos came free, but Rômulo Neiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute Hermes Pinilla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rômulo Neiva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rômulo Neiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermes Pinilla in the 25th minute of the match. In the 26th match minute, Flores da Cunha - RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severino Mattos to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Flores da Cunha - RS's Severino Mattos got a free kick in the 27th minute. Guto Queiroz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Raul Brandao made a huge save. Sílvio Luiz Pinheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raul Brandao having to interfere. Rômulo Neiva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julio De Leon, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. But to his dismay, Hermes Pinilla quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. 44 minutes into the match, Flores da Cunha - RS's goal looked a bit too open when Julio De Leon came free, but Rômulo Neiva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Rômulo Neiva was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Julio De Leon showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 60 minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Flores da Cunha - RS's goalkeeper Rômulo Neiva had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Julio De Leon. Rômulo Neiva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andres Villalobos in the 95th minute. Julio De Leon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 99th minute. Rômulo Neiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
